“For more than a decade, I’ve listened to Tim Bruneau performing music ranging from Handel arias to jazz standards by Duke Ellington; from French art songs to musical theater gems by Rodgers & Hammerstein. The joy of his gift is that, no matter what he sings, his voice sounds at home, he backs it with solid musicianship at the piano and the message is always from the heart.”

Piano Accompaniment / Musical Direction

Although I love singing on the stage, I’ve always enjoyed playing the piano for other singers and being an accompanist has long been a significant portion of my work.  Please, refer to the “About Tim” section of this website to read about some of the people with whom I’ve been fortunate enough to collaborate.

I am qualified to accompany and coach a broad spectrum of vocal music, including: musical theater, popular

standards, Italian, French, and German operatic arias and art songs.

I am also happy to accompany the “cabaret” shows of other artists and provide musical direction and coaching to any individual or theatrical production.  Below is a partial list of the many shows, some professional and some community theater, for which I’ve played the piano and/or provided musical direction.

"Tim Bruneau is a quadruple threat - a mesmerizing solo pianist, a supportive and nuanced accompanist, a sterling vocalist and a superb teacher.  For the past year, it has been my pleasure to sing with Tim in a variety of settings, from cabaret to church to piano bar.  Whenever Tim is playing for me, I am transported directly into the heart of the song.  He has great insight into the performance moment, with a seemingly spontaneous connection to my intention.  During rehearsals he helps me to sort out many different approaches to a song, and I always value his suggestions about dynamics, tempo and vocal color.  On stage he is a reassuring force, offering warmth, sincerity and a spicy wit.  I look forward to working with him for many years to come."
